Stand Tall campaign to get fashion retailers to cater more for tall women

5 ft 9 or taller? Struggling to find clothes that fit?

Stand Tall is a brand new initiative to get high street fashion retailers to stand up and take notice of tall women. Next time you’re in a changing room and the clothes you’re trying on don’t fit, take a quick picture and post with the hashtag #standtallselfie.

The campaign was the brainchild of Sheyi Louisa Adelasoye, a 6 ft graphic designer and part-time model of Nigerian descent.

Sheyi said:

“I’ve always been passionate about fashion but found it hard to find gorgeous clothes that actually fit in length! I realised, clothes need to be available to women of height. I started #standtallselfie to give retailers an indication of how big the gap is in the market. If buyers knew how many tall women are out there craving more choice, they’d be inspired to extend their tall ranges.”

standtall2As it stands, Topshop has the only in-store tall range, but the clothes are nowhere near as vibrant or exciting as those in the petite range. ASOS, New Look and Cos all have a small selection of tall clothes online. Other than that, there’s not much out there.

Sheyi added:

“Being tall doesn’t mean boring or frumpy; we want gorgeous pattern and texture too. Most tall ranges are only available online, I’m tired of sending clothes back and paying for postage – I just want to try things on in a shop!”
