Are M&S Women’s Clothes Any Good?

M&S, once a high street stalwart, has had a tricky few years. 2018 profits were tiny compared to previous years; 2016 £404m, 2017 £115m and 2018 £29.1m. It closed 17 shops in 2019 and didn’t have a stellar Christmas in 2019. We all know that M&S food is still brilliant but is it even worth visiting their badly laid out womenswear departments? Are there any clothes a reasonably stylish woman would actually want to wear?

Rosie

The Rosie underwear range is definitely still worth a look. They have some lovely interesting designs and their silk and lace models are really beautiful and good value. Their DD+ range is about the largest you can find anywhere. There are plenty of designs that are specifically for the larger bust – no skinny straps or half cups. They also do some great non-wired designs for those of us who want a bit more comfort. Their range is completed with plenty of matching knickers, not just G-strings and some pretty nightwear too.

Goodmove

Goodmove is the M&S range of sportswear for women. It is a little on the boring side however there is a good range of basic leggings in different lengths and sports tops in with different sleeves and necklines. The price to quality is good so this makes a good base range for your gym sessions.

Per Una

The Per Una range was interesting when it launched, then it went through a really frumpy frilly faze which was a real turnoff. Is the 2019/2020 product range any better? In a word yes. This is a really wearable range. There are plenty of plain basics in on-trend colours and fabrics with some patterned pieces too in gentle hues – no tacky jarring patterns. The prices are again good for better quality than most of the rest of the high street offers.

M&S Collection

This is M&S’s everyday wear collection. And it’s good. There is a really good selection of clothes that can form the base of your wardrobe. They all look well designed, comfortable and the fabrics are good. They will last plenty of seasons but they have enough style in them to make them interesting pieces in their own right.

Conclusion

So in conclusion – yes get yourself down to M&S and have a look through their womenswear ranges. The sales are on and they have some great discounts on some lovely pieces.
